Health authority needs executives

Letters

ABOUT 30 people have died from Covid-19 in Eastern Highlands.
The province has no health authority executives after former chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Joseph Apa left and the recent death of the authority’s board chairman Malcolm Kela Smith.
There is no one to oversee the functions of the health system in Eastern Highlands.
With Covid-19 here, it is a chaotic situation.
Many patients have died.
The acting CEO, whose term in office will end on the May 13, is not saying anything.
Can the people responsible for appointing the new board and the CEO speed the process so we can have executives in place to oversee the functions of the health system in Eastern Highlands before more lives are lost?
I am calling on the Department of Personnel Management, Health Department, Health Minister Jelta Wong and Governor Peter Numu to give us a new board and a new CEO as soon as possible.
