BAGUALE village near Lake Kutubu, Southern Highlands, was the proud recipient of a new ambulance donated by the Mineral Resource Development Company (MRDC) last weekend.

The village celebrated the occasion with feasting and traditional dancing.

MRDC managing director Augustine Mano arrived to a rousing welcome to present the ambulance to the Baguale health centre.

Mano had earlier committed K150,000 to buying the ambulance, which is fitted with emergency medical equipment.

He told the villagers that the donation demonstrated MRDC’s commitment in promoting the delivery of health services in the area.

Baguale health centre chairman John Balera thanked MRDC and Mano for the assistance.

He said the ambulance would also assist other villages with transporting people to hospitals, especially women and children.

The nearest hospital is at Pimaga and Moro and the provincial hospital is in Mendi.

Baguale villagers are royalty and equity beneficiaries of the Moran oil project under PDL 5.
