Health centre gets new vehicle

THE Kwongi two Evangelical Brotherhood church health centre in the upper Asaro area of Daulo district, Eastern Highlands, received a new Toyota Landcruiser ambulance last week.
The ambulance replaces the centre’s 12-year-old one.
The ambulance was presented by Daulo administrator James Sipa witnessed by former MP Patrick Kondo.
Sipa apologised on behalf of Daulo MP Ron Ganarafo, who was on parliamentary duties in Port Moresby.
“We, at the district level, must support the government’s programme in delivering basic health care to rural people, especially mothers and children.
“In this case the vehicle is very important to transport health workers, medicines and equipment to the villages to ensure the people have access to basic health care,” Sipa said.
He signed on behalf of the district to have ownership fully transferred to the church health services and urged them to take ownership of the new ambulance.
“It should not be used for purposes apart from the intended purposes and avoid misusing it,” he said.
The keys to the vehicle were received by church health secretary Japalis Kaiok, who thanked the Daulo district administration under Patrick and Ganarafo.
