OFFICERS in charge (OICs) of the 32 health facilities in East New Britain have undergone two days of health worker training of trainers (TOT) to prepare for the second phase of provincial vaccination programme.
The training aimed to equip the workers to roll out the vaccination in all the clinics and health facilities.
Provincial health authority family health coordinator and person in charge of the vaccine programme, Elsie Buka, said they would do static for a start and then continue with mobile and outreach if they did well with the awareness first.
“This training will also equip us with information that we are supposed to give to our people in our respective wards and local level governments,” she said.
Buka said there was an awareness part to the programme, which started yesterday, and would continue for the next five days.
She said all public servants would take part in the implementation of the awareness in the wards.
“In the phase one rollout, about half the workers got vaccinated and for phase two, they are encouraging everyone to come forward and get their full doses,” she said.
“We will also have advocacy meetings with the stakeholders, councillors, ward leaders and the different groups in the communities which includes the women’s group, youths and ward development committees so that they can help with the Coronavirus (Covid-19) awareness to the communities.”
