THE 2012 Medical Symposium is set to be held in September after the organising committee received K10,000 each from Borneo Pacific Pharmaceuticals (BPP) Ltd and the Port Moresby Private Specialist (PMPS) Medical Centre.
In a brief presentation at the PMPS Medical Centre last Friday, organising chairman Dr David Mokela received the cheques for K10,000 each from BPP chairman Martin Poh and PMPS Medical Centre executive director Dr Andrew Masta.
The presentation was witnessed by PNG Medical Society president Prof Nakapi Tefuarani.
Mokela said the annual symposium was very important as it played a significant role in
addressing PNG’s health issues and creating national health policies.
He said road accidents, heart and other common diseases were some areas where the symposium had helped in providing sound resolutions that helped the government in creating policies.
Masta said the two organisations were pleased to support the work of the Medical Society and would continue to do so.
Tefuarani acknowledged the continued support from the two organisations.
He said the Medical Society was still appealing to business houses.
The 2012 Medical Symposium will be held at the Gateway Hotel conference centre in Port Moresby from Sept 2-7, with the theme “Natural resource development and its impact on PNG health services”.
