CATHOLIC health services in Wewak, East Sepik, have conducted a two-week training programme for village health volunteers officers.
The purpose of the programme is to train officers to be able to train the selected people at their respective health centres to become volunteers.
The training was held at the Kunjingini Catholic health sub-centre in the Wosera-Gawi local level government area.
A total of 19 nursing officers as well as community health workers including Dr Alois Samiak participated in the programme and graduated last Friday.
The graduation was held at the Kunjingini Catholic health centre.
Provincial health secretary Sr Celine Wakasere congratulated the participants and urged them to put what they learned into practice.
Wakasere said health services were lacking in the very remote parts of the province and thanked the Save the Children Organisation, which sponsored the training programme, and for giving their support.
