THE Rumginae community health worker school in Western has been ranked fourth among the 15 in the country, principal Amos Kupaloma says.

He said there were plans to lift its standard to a nursing college.

“The health department and education department have approached us several times with the idea of converting it into a nursing school or college.

“This is a very big challenge for the school and the community and we want to take this process on a step by step basis.”

The school graduated 25 community health worker students in March.

Student Owen Yanai said: “This institution is the only such school in Western and we must make use of this facility to help deliver much needed health services.”
