THE Rigo district in Central province has become the proud owner of K2.1 million worth of heavy machinery for the construction and maintenance of roads in the district.
Four heavy machinery vehicles were bought under the district services improvement programme by Rigo MP Ano Pala to construct new roads and carry out maintenance.
Mr Pala said the deteriorating conditions of roads and the closure of some had caused a lot of inconvenience to the people in terms of transportation.
Most people in the district found it hard especially with transporting their garden produce by having to walk fair distances to get to the main highways.
“Improving the road network will help move the district forward especially in its huge agricultural sector and the delivery of services,” he said The Imoti road and the Gabagaba roads would be the first to undergo maintenance with numerous others already identified.
Mr Pala said the Rigo district had an effective administration and was now better equipped than any other district.
