Hefty fine for insulting colleague

 A POLICE officer was fined K200 in the Kokopo District Court for using insulting words.

Ken McKenzie, based at the Rabaul Police Station, was charged with using insulting words and pleaded guilty.

He was fined K200.

Magistrate Ignatius Kurei heard that the police officer – under the influence of alcohol – approached his colleague at Baliora police barracks and used insulting words to threaten him.

In another case, a senior constable, based at Rabaul as well, is facing two counts of incest involving his two teenage daughters.

He appeared before the Kokopo District Court late last month and his case was adjourned to Feb 25 for a ruling on the evidence presented in court. 

He remains in custody.
