MEMBERS from Hekari FC from the remote Waroi village, Kutubu,Southern Highlands, have arrived to take part in the Southern-leg of the Besta Cup soccer tournament at PNG  Institute of Public Administration oval at Waigani this weekend.
The tournament starts tomorrow and ends Saturday.
Hekari will be led by striker James Kawari of Mendi FC to challenge for the Southern region  title.
Chairperson of the local organising committee Vonnie Kapi Natto yesterday confirmed the arrival of the first batch of players from Kutubu while the remaining squad is expected to fly in today.
The other members of the LOC are Job Minan, Trevor Ire, Pansy Sawan, Jacinta Kase, Thomas Piliwas, John Tawayeno and Sailosi Druma.
Hekari will be one of the three teams competing for the Southern region.
The other teams are NCDPSSA and Koupa (Central).
Interestingly, an affiliated member of PNGFA School Soccer Port Moresby was dumped in the last minute from taking part due to non-compliance of PNGFA directives.
The snubbing did not go down well with the president Wayne Taylor who claimed that there were apparently two sets of rules used by the national body to suit its need.
Kapi Natto, who did not want to be drawn into the discussion on the decision, said preparations were on target and ready for kick off tomorrow.
