Hekari United continued their winning run with 3-1 victory over Gulf Komara in round two of the National Soccer League (NSL) Southern Conference at the Sir John Guise Stadium on Saturday.
Komara are yet to register a win after going down 2-1 to fellow NSL rookies Central United in the opening round.
Hekari and Komara played out a scoreless first half, with players on either side yet to find their range.
But Nathan James broke the deadlock for Hekari in the 48th minute.
Not to be outdone, Komara began to claim more possession and it paid off when Kenneth Arah scored the equaliser in the 66th minute.
Sensing Komara’s threat, Hekari coach Jerry Allan sent on Ati Kepo and the Central man made an immediate impact in attack, scoring in the 67th minute to restore Hekari’s lead.
His brother Kolu scored in the 90th minute to ensure the three points for Hekari.
Allan said despite the win, the team were yet to produce a complete performance.
“More work needs to be done in order for our game plan to fall in place,” Allan said.
The Solomon Islander described Komara as a strong side, who put a lot of work into their preparations for the clash.
“The game today showed that the Gulf side had prepared well. It was a tough game and I commend our opponents for their effort,” Allan said.
