Hekari laud Stars for their effort in NSL

Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League grand finalists Hekari United has commended the Eastern Stars for pushing them throughout the season.
The home-and-way series ended last week, with Hekari United and reigning premiers Toti City set to face-off in the grand final in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Hekari withstood pressure from the Milne Bay side over last two weekends, in a battle to secure a spot in the grand final. Hekari won both matches 2-0 and 2-1.
In Lae, defending champions City were saw off Morobe United in both occasions in the series.
The old rival now meet in the grand final where both sides would be banking on star their players in the likes of Raymond Gunemba, Nigel Dabinyaba and Michael Foster for City, and David Muta, Koriak Upaiga, Gibson Daudau, Nathan James and Kolu Kepo for Hekari.
Hekari coach Jerry Allan said they were pushed by a quality Stars outfit.
“At one point, the Stars were somewhere in fifth or sixth place in the Southern Conference, but their hard work has seen them come this far,” Allan said.
“They are a classy team who beat all odds to make the home-and-away series.
“We commend them for putting up a strong challenge and we wish them the best in the years to come.
The Solomon Islander said their grand-final preparations were going well.
“Obviously, we want to stay fit when we meet the defending champions.”
