PART of the MRDC Hekari United FC team returned to Port Moresby on Saturday after their unsuccessful bid at the FIFA Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The first team arrived on Saturday while Hekari club chairman John Kapi Natto and officials arrived yesterday while the rest of the team will arrive today from Cairns, Australia.
The club’s overseas players were scheduled to travel to their countries  after returning to PNG.
The Solomon Islands players headed by coach Tommy Mana and assistant Jerry Allen will proceed to Honiara while Hekari’s Fijian imports led by senior player Tuimasi Manuca and Pita Bolatoga will travel to Nadi for a week’s break before returning  for the O League commitment against Lautoka in Nadi on January 14.
Hekari started their O League campaign on the back foot with a 2-1 loss to Vanuatu’s Amical in Port Moresby in November but crushed the Solomon Islands champions Koloale later in the  month.
The Club World Cup experience is sure to have given players and the coaching staff a boost as the club looks to defend their O League title.
