HEKARI United have recruited Lae City midfielder Yagi Yasasa for the remainder of the National Soccer League season as the Erickson Komeng-coached side aim to retain pole spot in the Southern Conference.
Club manager Vonnie Kapi Natto confirmed with The National yesterday that she had requested for his release from Lae City and got approval yesterday.
The league’s current two-week break has seen the opening of a mid-season transfer window.
“We are excited for him to team up with many young players in Hekari like Solomon Rani, Moses Joe, Joseph Joe, Isome Kila, Ati and Kolu Kepo, Freddie Frank and others,” Kapi Natto said.
“These are the players who will drive Hekari in future.
“They are truly privileged to play alongside great footballers in our country like David Muta, Michael Foster, Koriak Upaiga, Daniel Joe and Nigel Dabinyaba.
“They need to learn as much as they can while playing and training alongside them.
“I had requested his release from City and they sent me his release letter today (yesterday), so he is all good to play with Hekari this weekend.” Komeng said he was thrilled with Yasasa’s inclusion. “He will bring energy and quality which we lacked in round one,” the former representative midfielder said.
“He is a quality player who will definitely boost us in round two.
“I’ll see how he goes this week at training and hopefully he can blend in well with the boys for Saturday’s match.”
