The government is on track in delivering the new Hela and Jiwaka provinces by next year, Minister assisting the Prime Minister on Constitutional Matters Francis Potape said yesterday.
He said the existing boundaries of Hela were the electorates of Komo-Margarima, Tari-Pori and Koroba-Lake Kopiago.
Potape said Jiwaka would cover Jimi, North Waghi and South Waghi except for Anglimp, which decided not to be part of the new province.
He said the question now was whether to include Anglimp as part of Hagen Open or some other arrangement.
He said the electoral boundaries commission would be holding public meeting in June and July to get views of the people.
Potape said this in response to questions from Western Highlands Governor Tom Olga who raised questions on whether enabling legislations for the two new provinces would go through this session.
Olga was concerned because following the recent appointment of members of the EBC, still there was no report from the EBC on the boundaries.
He said the people of Anglimp did not want to be part of Jiwaka and Kutubu wanted to remain with Southern Highlands and not Hela.
