Hela clan wants review on business development grant
The National, Monday 29th April 2013
THE Pina clan, landowners of Portion 167 and 68, Gas-To-Electricity (GTE) plant site in Hela, wants the national government to review their business development grant.
Principal landowner Dawi Bogaya said they wanted the government to consider them as a separate facility landowners while distributing the business development grants appropriated for PDL 8 in Angore.
“The Pina clan wants to know whether the national government has a separate business development grant for the GTE plant customary landowners sitting somewhere for the past 22 years,” Bogaya said.
“Don’t we deserve a fair and reasonable portion out of the K12 million appropriated for PDL 8 Angore?”
He said if there was nothing for them separately, then the clan wanted the GTE plant site as a separate entity in the PDL 8 area.
He lauded the visit by Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister Richard Maru.
He told Maru that they had two important facilities within the PDL 8 boundary – the GTE plant providing power for the Porgera Gold mine and the recent discovery of the Angore well-heads facility.
