A NEW administration building and commercial centre for Hela will be built by Curtain Brothers after it signed a K80 million contract with the provincial government.

The contract was approved by the Government. Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio, Governor Anderson Agiru and company managing director Justin McGann signed the contract at Government House last week.

The project is jointly funded by the Hela high impact project fund, the provincial government and the  Government.

The project will see the construction of a provincial administration building, provincial government offices and a commercial centre in Tari. It is expected to take 18 months.

Anderson said the three buildings would mark a new era for development for Hela.

“The provincial administrator and the provincial treasurer and people of Hela are ready to take on modern day challenges,” he said.

“We thank the government of Peter O’Neill for this project. It has taken 12 months and the signing today is a momentous occasion for Hela.”

McGann said construction should begin in January and be completed in the middle of 2015.
