THE Hela government has paid K6 million to subsidise school fee for its students in the country and abroad, Governor Philip Undialu says.
Undialu presented the receipts paid to various institutions in Port Moresby, including Sogeri National High School.
He said despite the political issues faced in the country, he had to continue his duties.
“I know with the looming vote of no-confidence, everyone is busy with political matters but I want to assure the people that my duty to my people is still paramount,” he said.
“Education is a very important part of Hela. We all need to help build the province and education is the way forward.”
Komo-Margarima MP Manasseh Makiba challenged the students to make use of the assistance and concentrate on their studies.
“In the difficult economic times, paying fees for tertiary education is challenging for some families. I urge you students to priorities education and concentrate,” he said.
