Helifix Operations scoops awards

 HELIFIX Operations scooped up the award for Best Medium Enterprise at the first Small and Medium Enterprise Awards ceremony on Tuesday night.

The Best Small Enterprise award was won by Sefti PNG Ltd whose core business is the advancement of occupational health and safety through awareness and standards.

Helifix also won the Inventory Control awards.

Finance Minister James Marape, who presented Helix Operations the Best Medium Enterprise award paid tribute to the company’s growth and expansion since owner Robert Agarobe started it 2006.

According to the Enterprise Centre citation, the company had expanded to incorporate a unique mix of rotary and fixed wing aircraft air service.  

“It is their goal to provide quality service to an ever-evolving market by dedicating itself to an outstanding safety and performance record,” the citation said.

The awards, organised by the Institute of Banking and Business Management Enterprise Centre, recognises PNG businesses and landowner companies that have made significant achievements in a variety of areas of business.

The eight winners were among 270 companies assessed by the institute’s enterprise centre, its manager, Johnson Pundari, said.

Dream Inn won the award for governance and organisation, the business management award went to Emmy’s Bakery and Catering Services, PNG Pest Control won the financial management award, Trans Hela the human resource management award, Firewall Logistics the safety, health and environment award, Stocks and Partners the quality control award and Pacific MMI Insurance took out the reputation and image award.

Judging was done by a panel comprising representatives from the Asian Development Bank, National Development Bank, Esso Highlands, Columbus Consulting, Nationwide Microbank and the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  

Nominees were assessed using eight global best-business practices.
