Help needed for Oro students

Letters

THE Oro tertiary students’ school fee assistance scheme that was established by the governor to help students from the province is dead and we don’t know where the funds have gone.
I am a parent of a student attending a tertiary institution. I tried to get assistance from the office and was told that the scheme was no longer in existence.
I was so sad, not so much because it affected me personally, but because thousands of parents like me were being affected.
It is difficult for parents to pay their children’s tuition fees without the help of the provincial government.
For those of us who struggled to pay this year’s tuition fees, next year will be even harder. For many it will mean pulling their children out of whatever institution they are in.
My child is completing his diploma at the end of this year. To continue with his degree will cost more than K18,000 and there is no way I can pay that.
My appeal to our good governor on behalf of the silent majority is that we want an investigation into the missing funds and have the scheme re-established so our children can get help.
