STINGERS goal defender Shania Sanga, who was named the best defender of the Lae Netball Association A reserve grand final, guided her team to a 25-18 win over Hetura.
Hetura, a former glamour team of the competition, had four of their teams in the finals after joining the LNA competition this season.
In the other finals, Hetura beat Pagini Sisters 34-33 in the A grade, Stingers beat Hetura 20-9 in the Under-15s, East West Mariegold upset Stingers 14-11 in the U13s and in the U10s Sisters had too much power beating Hetura 9-2 in the earlier fixture.
The lanky youngster were all over the court denying some of the vital point-scoring by Hetura goal shooter Kiliva Uru and goal attack Dephney Pokin.
Sanga was well supported by goalkeeper Kerri Ralston while goal shooter Yasmin Faith and goal attack Jerraine Kila had a perfect day scoring.
In the first quarter, the FTM sponsored team piled on nine points to Hetura’s three and then added four points in the second quarter to Hetura’s five goals to go out a 13-8 at the halftime break.
Hetura came on strong with Helen Havora directing play in the mid-court creating chances for shooter Uru and Pokin to net points and tallying up their score to 18 by the fulltime.
Stingers on the other hans added 12 points over the course of the third and fourth quarters for a total of 25 points to win the A reserve title.
