High court reference parties in court
PARTIES involved in a Supreme Court reference filed by Minister of Justice and Attorney-General Davis Steven seeking Supreme Court opinion of the validity of a vote of no confidence (VONC) appeared before in the Waigani court last Thursday.
Steven, who was represented by Twivey Lawyers was the referrer in the matter. Others who appeared as interveners through their lawyers were the Parliament Speaker Job Pomat, Parliament Clerk Vela Konivaro, and Opposition Leader Patrick Pruaitch.
Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika adjourned the matter to March 8 to allow Pruaitch to move an application seeking to join one of two Supreme Court references filed by the justice minister.
