The National, Wednesday March 26th, 2014
By CHARLES MOI
THE National Court will hear the case filed by Opposition leader Belden Namah challenging the suspension of four police officers in May.
The case will come before Justice Catherine Davani on May 21.
Lawyer Alois Jerewai, representing Namah, will move an application to have former Treasurer Don Polye and Finance Minister James Marape removed as defendants from the proceedings.
Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga has filed an application to dismiss the proceedings because of an inappropriate originating process.
The application filed by Namah, through Jerewai, and the application filed by police lawyer Nicholas Miviri will be heard on that date.
The Court on January 20 ordered police not to arrest Namah, Polye and Marape.
Namah filed court proceedings challenging the suspension of four police officers involved in the investigation of O’Neill, Marape, and Polye over the payout of Government funds to a law firm.
Namah, senior constable Robert Ewail and others are the plaintiffs.
Kulunga O’Neill, Marape and Polye and others are defendants.
