High fees

Letters

BUMAYONG Lutheran Secondary School in Lae has defied directives from National Education Department and Morobe provincial education board pertaining to school-fee payments for secondary schools.
This particular school is charging hefty fees for students transferring in and those who withdrew and are intending to enroll.
The principal and school board have to come out clear and justify to the parents the K2200 payment for these.
Why impose such high fees on students when the free education policy is still in force and implemented throughout PNG?
There is no logic in this increase of fees Bumayong, especially at this critical time of the year when parents are encountering financial hardships to pay school fees for their children.
I am in support of a writer via this column who raised this issue on Feb 15.
There must be an urgent investigation conducted to shed some light on this matter.
I hope the Morobe provincial programme adviser for education can look into this issue.
