High schools need vehicles

Letters

THE purpose of nonmonetary incentives is to reward employees for excellent job performance through opportunities.
Nonmonetary incentives include flexible work hours, training and education, a pleasant work environment and sabbaticals.
Some benefits include work vehicles.
I wonder why people in management positions in certain institutions do not enjoy such benefits.
Why are high school principals in East Sepik operating without vehicles?
They are using the PMVs instead.
They deserve better for the jobs they do in contributing to this country’s development.
High school principals deserve the same treatment as their counterparts in secondary schools.
Providing vehicles for principals can help to ensure they stay motivated and continue to give their best. Schools, especially high schools, should not be operating without vehicles.
Because most schools do not have vehicles, they hire vehicles, which is costly. Something is terribly wrong somewhere.
Some principals feel awkward to do administrative runs for schools using PMVs.
Some schools were promised vehicles, but they are still waiting for these promises to be fulfilled.
Others are even denied access to grants. What is going to happen if schools fail as a result of these challenges.
I am asking the responsible authorities – district education offices, provincial education boards, Teaching Service Commission and the Education Department – to look into this and do something about it.
