The University of Papua New Guinea has paid K61,611 to Telikom PNGf for an unlimited high speed internet connection.
The high speed internet connection will  start next Monday to cover the Waigani and Taurama campuses in Port Moresby, plus its open colleges in five regional centres.
Vice Chancellor academic and student affairs Professor Pulapa Subba Rao said the second phase would provide internet connection for the halls of residence.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Albert Mellam said the initiative would benefit students and staff.
“If we can deliver a sizable proportion of our programmes through that platform, it will minimise a lot of our challenges,” he said.
“We have some problems with fluctuation but Telikom will make life easier for us.”
Student Representative Council president Bobby Yupi thanked the university and Telikom for providing a better learning environment.
