PEOPLE from the Highlands provinces who live in Bougainville are organising peace work of the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) by taking part in awareness programmes.
The group is known as the “Bougainville Highlands Communique” (BHC).
BHC chairman and founder Kotrifa Nanopa said it was important that every stakeholder and citizen in PNG and Bougainville should be educated on the peace process, especially referendum aspects of the process.
The referendum target date is June 15 next year.
BHC had its first district consultation meetings last week in the Wakunai and Tinputz district stations. They included Red River and Aita Markets purposely for awareness on the intention of BHC, establish district branches and collect district data.
“Whether you are from Goroka, Kundiawa, Tari, Ialibu, Pangia, or Wapenamda, you are invited to come and join the association. This is the way forward to safeguard our welfare,” Nanopa told the participants in Wakunai.
