RAW athletic talents identified at the Highlands Regional Athletics Championships held in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, over the weekend will be placed in the Highlands regional Talent Identification Programme (TIP) camp.

The camp scheduled for the second term school holidays next month at the National Sports Institute (NSI) would see participants from the region who were identified would be brought together to the camp, according to TIP Coordinator Geoffrey Gideon.

He said potential talents identified in both track and field events would be further developed at the camp getting them ready for other championships including the National Athletics Championships in July. Gideon said prior to the championships, technical officers from NSI visited Chimbu and Enga conducted training on talent identifications and selections whilst other provinces conducted similar programmes through their respective sports masters.

TIP is a recognised programme aimed at identifying talents and prepare them for major events.
