COMMANDING officers in the Highlands prisons have pledged their support for Correctional Services acting Commissioner Martin Balthazar.
He replaces Richard Sikani whose contract had expired.
Baisu jail commander chief Supt Simon Sobaim spoke on behalf of the Highlands commanding officers and staff and thanked the government for having confidence in Balthazar.
He said the appointment was long overdue and the past government did not try to fill the position.
Sobaim also praised the government for weeding out corruption in departments.
He urged Balthazar to weed out corruption in the Correctional Services administration.
Sobaim also called on him to re-introduce the pension scheme on retirement and do away with the retrenchment exercise.
