Highlands governors’ meet gets underway in Wabag

IMPROVING Highlands Highway, guns culture in the Highlands region and greater autonomy are three main agenda items expected to be tabled at the Highlands’ governors’ conference in Wabag today.
According to an organising committee spokesperson, governors from all seven Highlands provinces would attend with their own agenda.
Governors from West New Britain, New Ireland, Madang and East New Britain will be present.
The event to be held at the Ipatas Centre is sponsored by the Minstry of Inter-Government Relations.
Tomorrow sees launch of decentralisation/autonomy at Aipus Oval.
Autonomy for Enga means sharing of responsibilities and risks between national and provincial governments to improve service delivery and strengthen good governance.
