Highlands leaders praise Polye’s appointment by IMF

COMMUNITY leaders in Western Highlands and Jiwaka have praised the board of governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the appointment of Treasury Minister Don Polye as chairman of the institution in 2014.

Pius Piel, who claimed to be speaking on behalf of Komkui tribe in Western Highlands, commended Polye and said the appointment was a milestone achievement for the people of Kandep and Enga as well as other Highlands provinces.

He said Polye deserved the achievement as he had played a key role in the National Budget and the Government’s development programmes and projects.

He added that PNG would benefit greatly from Polye’s role as chairman of the IMF board of governors.

Pr James Nema of the Assembly of God church in Anglimp, Jiwaka, commended Polye, saying it was a “blessing” for the Government and country.

He also said PNG would benefit from Polye’s appointment.

Councillor Wanis Alinga from Upper Nebilyer praised Polye and the Government for the achievement.
