Highly suspicious: Nepo
The National, Monday February 8th, 2016
CORRECTIONAL Service Training College Commandant Bernard Nepo says the break-in at the college armoury last Thursday was “highly suspicious”.
Nepo said that last Thursday night at around 8pm, some prison officers were drunk and firing shots in the air.
“At about the same time, the college armoury was broken into as stated by Commissioner Waipo,” Nepo said.
He said an AR15 rifle magazine and six bullets where missing after a thorough check was made at the armory the next day.
“It was established that the armoury door was left open without any missing firearm.”
Nepo said that last Friday, at around 2pm, the college commandant’s vehicle key was grabbed by the officers.
“The turn of events is highly suspicious and it may be an inside job,” he said. He said police investigations were underway and upon completion, a full report would be presentedto those in authority.
Those are expected to be criminally charged. Commissioner Michael Waipo said the matter had put the lives of people at risk.
