Highway section needs attention

Letters

THE Prinorkawa section of the Highlands Highway just outside Kundiawa is the stiffest part of the highway. Every year, more than five semi-trailers get into some sort of accident there, cargoes looted and trucks are damaged which cost the owners substantial amounts to repair.
China Harbor Engineering Company has reduced its stiffness by heaping gravels but the road has not been sealed with bitumen.
Trucking companies such as Trans Wonderland, Mapai, JTI and Trasia transport pay huge amounts of tax to the Government every year and they should be making profit, instead the bad road contributes to them making losses.
Can the Works Department and Simbu government look into this highway hazard?
