A NATIONAL Court order for the eviction of people living in the Paga Hill settlement within 45 days is harsh, a spokesman for the residents says.

Joe Moses, chairman of the Paga Hill community in Port Moresby, said on Friday enough time should be given to people there to earn enough money so that they could move out with dignity to restart their lives when they were resettled.

“We want the government of the day to see our situation and help out because we want development to take place,” he said.

“However, the people in charge of such developments must first establish dialogue with the community and get consent of the people before any development can take place.

“Such a dialogue will create a win-win situation for both parties and it will prevent misunderstanding as well.’’

Moses has formed a group with six other people to decide the best course of action that can be taken on behalf of the settlers.
