THE Port MORESBY Hockey Association has played its pre-season at the Sir John Guise Stadium multi-purpose oval for the past two weekends.

Association secretary, Caroline Kahai said there were six men’s and five women’s teams battling it out for the pre-season cup.

United are leading the women’s competition with seven points, with Bismark and BSP are tied on six apiece.

But the Bismark women have a better goal average.

United and Sunam share the lead on 12 points in the men’s competition but  United edges ahead with a better goal difference. Bismark is third.

The POMHA season proper starts this weekend at the Sir John Guise Stadium.

A meeting held over the weekend has strong indication that 12 men’s and 11 women’s teams will take part this year.

Kahai stressed all clubs must submit their team list to POMHA executives by s Saturday at the official bench.

All club registration fees and player affiliation fees are due by June 15. Clubs have been advised to fundraise at the field to pay their dues then. The selection for the Madang Championships will be announced on Sunday at the ground.
