Hockey name train-on squad for Oceania Cup

 THE Papua  New Guinea Hockey Federation has announced its 30 men training squad for the Oceania Cup in New Zealand later in October.

President of Hockey Federation Kaluwin Potuan said the training squad had been selected during the national championships held in Madang over the Queen’s Birthday weekend.

The squad will commence training next Tuesday for two months before the final 18 players will be named for the Oct 26 – Nov 2 event.

The training venue for the Port Moresby-based players would be at Sir John Guise stadium while for the Lae players would be at Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium under the guidanceship of their respective local association presidents.

Meanwhile, the Federation is seeking interest for men and women team coaches, two assistant coaches and two team managers. Interested people can submit their CV to PNGHF by July 17.

Training squad: goalkeepers – Yahee Kusunan (Pom), Julius Raoma (Lae), Solomon Karogo (Lae). Defenders – Tapas Kangol (Pom), Stanley Solien (Pom), Shane Amos (Lae), William Bon (Lae), Ivan Aulebo (Madang), Patrick Paine (Lae), Edward Purkikil (Pom), Kawetan Popau (Manus), John Kila (Manus). Midfielders – John Isinii Jnr (Lae), Milton Kisapai (Pom), Keith Raoma (Lae), Hussein Lowah (Pom), Bonny Samen Jnr (Mad), Twain Pambuai (Pom), Bernard Raoma (Lae), Polin Kangol (Pom), Andrew Roama (ENB), Sosongan Polaiap (Mas). Strikers – Kimmins Hebei (Lae), Pomat Kanamon (Lae), John Hebei Sain (Pom), Rex Loth (Lae), Gabriel Kubai (Mad), Eddie Gebo (Pom), Sapau Tapo (ENB) and William Solien (Pom).
