Hockey tourney ends in anti-climax

LAE City Hockey Association’s two-day mixed Super 5 tournament of ended in an anti-climax on Sunday as the finals were not played.
The tournament sponsored by Brian Bell and Niugini Tablebirds saw 18 teams placed in two sections, pool A had eight and Pool B 10 teams.
The games started late and the theorganisers called off the finals and award the prizes to the winners and the runners-up of each pool.
In Pool A, Niugini Tablebirds came out on top to take out first placewith Poroman settling for second.
In pool B, the combined All Blacks/Red Backs were declared the winners, with Rapatona claiming runners-up.
Young players Russel Tarutia (Tablebirds) and Joyce Kamokaba (All Blacks) won top goal scorers.
Tarutia scored 17 goals in the men’s division and Kamokaba managed 14 goals in the women’s section.
