THE Hohola Flies Rugby Football League Club has selected two strong sides for the Port Moresby league 9s competition.
This will be the second season the Flies compete in the Pom 9s tournament that attracts other teams from suburban off-season and Central leagues.
Club president Arthur Daniel said the teams were made up of young, emerging players from the Hohola off-season rugby league competition.
Daniel said team one would be called the Blues and would have Jesreel Roy, Alex Pos, Tamo Andrew, Kambai Igiman, Kay Rebon, Kepson Kepon, John Andy, Jim Kepon, Bruce Bani, Ronald Andale, Pape Myles, Saki Saka, Emsy Bobson, Ramson George, Benjamin Paul, Geoprge Iso, Eddie John, Jeremiah Mori, Micks Edge and Wani Topala.
The second team, the Whites will have Kwapena Ware, Lama Kawara, Herea Ravu, Michael Eka, Richard Gairo, Yala Roko, Stanley Aruai, Dala Jack, Samson Keka, Jackson Koi, Lakaro Kada, Wage Susuve, Douglas Dui, Gabriel Luso, Ford Tuli, Duffy Aua, Suagin Magini, Kopegi Lucas and Terro Kiffe.
He said the teams were more balanced than last year and would spring some surprises in the competition.
“We are counting on young bloods in the team and discourage recruitment of high profile players from other clubs,” he said.
The executives have appointed community leader Gairo Gavu as patron for his support for the club over the years.
Gairo said he had a passion for involving youth in rugby league and was willing to support development and expose grassroots talent at a high level competition like Port Moresby.
The Aroma man is tasked to help the executives to secure a major sponsor for the club this year.
