FOOTBALL fans and stakeholders have been urged to rally behind the Papua New Guinea senior men’s team as they prepare for the Nations Cup which will kickoff at the Sir John Guise Stadium on Saturday.
Team manager Wesley Waiwai told The National yesterday that the team really needed moral support.
“In fact, we need support from all quarters — financially and morally — to ensure the players are focused for the one-week football tournament.”
Despite minor hiccups since moving into their camp at Hodova Hotel in Port Moresby, the team were focused on training before their game on Saturday.
Waiwai said there was no injury problem and the players were in shape for their opening match against Tahiti.
Head coach Flemming Serritslev was seen working on tactics and positional play with the team during the work-outs yesterday at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
He wants to ensure the players were focused on what they are doing during the game and produce a positive result for football followers in the country.
