Honesty viewed as powerful tool

Honesty is the best policy a nation can embrace, says the chairman of the Body of Christ Rev Joseph Walters
“It is the solution to curb and cure corruption, abuse, misuse and a wide range of other related issues of serious concern hurting the nation today,” he said
“Bribery, corruption, cheating, stealing and deceit are evils robbing a nation and clearly manifest the existence of a root problem – dishonesty.
“Honesty, which is the ability to be honest, truthful and transparent and free from lying, cheating and deceit, is a moral value and character sadly missing in our nation,” Walters said.
“Honesty and integrity are two qualities difficult to find or come by.
“The quality of a nation is best reflected by the quality and
standards its people possess and manifest.
“When corruption is of rife, when cheating in exams, when deceitful in deals, when lying in homes and marriages, when double standards are practised at work, when hypocrisy is preached from podiums, then an adverse and destructive power is clearly at work gnawing its way into the moral fabric of a nation.
“Societies worldwide today encourage and nationalise a culture of dishonesty as the norm.
“Even though we call ourselves Christians and a Christian country, our actions or inactions do speak louder than words.
“We even fail to take heed to and abide by ancient wisdom from scriptures like Prov 22:17 – we are to be guided by a clear conscience that makes one desirous of
living honestly, truthfully and honourably.
“Honesty carries a power that only those who desire and aspire to a higher quality and standard of life can attain, correctly
handle and seriously live it out,” Walters said.
