HOOD Lagoon Australian Football League (AFL) is set to hold its inaugural Nelson Saroa Cup grand final at Keapara’s Shell Park in Central tomorrow.
The two teams vying for the Cup are Kiru Hawks and Taiga Eagles.
Both teams earned spots in the grand final after they finished in the top-two after seven rounds of matches in the eight-team competition.
The competition was launched in July by Moni Plus Port Moresby Australian Football League and Papua New Guinea AFL Commission.
Hawks booked an early grand final spot after they beat the Eagles in the major semifinal last week.
Eagles rebounded to beat Ra’ula Kangroos in the preliminary final on Wednesday.
Hood Lagoon AFL president and legend William Maha said all eight teams were talented, but Hawks and Eagles were more dominant in their quest to reach the decider.
Keleiruna Saints will battle Anave Kopuas in the curtain-raiser.
AFLPNG officers will run a development programme for Hood Lagoon Primary School Under-12s as a lead-up to the grand final.
Maha thanked Saroa for sponsoring the competition, and Port Moresby AFL and the commission for their support.
