He said Cabinet had also confirmed Bill Roo as Chief Fire Officer.

Hoot had been acting Investment Promotion Authority managing director for two years after Ivan Pomaleu left to be the chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Authority.
“Hoot’s appointment is very important for the Government as our country prepares to host Apec with increasing investment opportunities available into the future,” Kapavore said. “Important institutions such as Investment Promotion Authority must be capacitated to harness such business environment.”
Kapavore said the National Executive Council had also appointed Bill Roo as Chief Fire Officer. “He was acting for almost two years. Roo now replaces Isaac Silas who was in that position for almost 10 years,” he said.
Modernising the Fire Services is fundamental to meet the growing demand in the socio-economic environment. This appointment affirms the Government’s commitment and the support to this sector.”
