Hope for Morobe

Letters

I refer to a report in The National on Tuesday on the appointment of the long-waited provincial administrator for Morobe.
We the people of Bulolo stand together and congratulate Bart Ipambonj and extend our thanks to the PEC and NEC for appointing you as the new provincial administrator for Morobe.
The appointment is timely and will help move Morobe forward to meet medium-term and Vision 2050 goals.
Ipambonj are a carrier kiap and served Morobe as a young patrol officer [kiap] and spent well over 25 years serving Morobe with a heart for the people.
This province is a leader in reforms and the mentality of regionalism is a killer for service delivery.
Researches proved that one can be a smart operator on a foreign land, however, one cannot prosper on native land in public service delivery due to many factors. Only a few have proven these critics wrong.
As a kiap, the new provincial administrator patrolled the entire province prior to and after the reforms and knows the province well.
He knows what it’s like to serve in the remotest parts of the province and the hardships that come with it.
We the people of Bulolo appeal to the political leaders, the bureaucrats and the people of the nine districts in Morobe to stand together and support him.
We make this call because districts and local government infrastructures are deteriorating and people are left to struggle with health, education and law and order.
We would like to see the good provincial administrator start sending all the LLG and district staff on patrols like in the past.
This system of administration ceased when Ipambonj left the district administration.
Through patrols, officers can best serve the people by counselling, advising or educating them at the village level because it takes weeks to travel to towns to get a simple piece of advice.
Once again, we congratulate you on your appointment.
