Hoping for change with new secretary

Letters

CONGRATULATIONS Dr Osborne Liko on your new appointment as Health secretary.
You have a lot work to do in terms of addressing the coronavirus pandemic, the implementation of the Public Accounts Committee recommendations and to continue rolling out health authorities in provinces.
As a victim of the administrative failures in the health system, I support one of your plans to see health officers are assessed on service provision assessment twice a year as required.
Service provision assessment is important because it measures one’s performances for trainings, promotions and pay increments.
Once again, I congratulate you on your appointment.
With your experience and your plans for service provision assessment, most of us in the rural areas who have been denied good employment benefits for almost 3–5 years can look forward to some changes.
