Horizon Oil appoints new non-executive director

 Horizon Oil has announced the appointment of Sandra Birkensleigh as a non-executive director of the company and chairperson of the company’s audit committee.

Birkensleigh has extensive experience in financial services particularly in respect to risk management, compliance and corporate governance.

Birkensleigh’s career included 24 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

She is currently a non-executive director of several companies including Auswide Bank Limited, MLC Limited and Plum Financial Services Limited, a company that provides superannuation solutions to medium and large Australian organisations.

She is chair of the board audit committee and a member of the board risk committee for those companies.

She is an independent member of the audit committee of the Reserve Bank of Australia and a member of the audit and risk committee of the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Sandra has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of NSW, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Horizon Oil’s chairman John Humphrey said: “We are pleased to welcome Sandra to the board. 

“Her considerable experience, strong financial and risk management expertise will complement the skills of the Horizon Oil board.”

Horizon Oil is an ASX-listed petroleum exploration and production company, with a geographic focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The company currently produces over 4000 barrels of oil per day from its fields in New Zealand and China, which generate more than US$80 million (K238m) in net operating income.
