THE Kudjip Nazarene Hospital and School of Nursing in Jiwaka has received financial support and a vehicle.

The hospital was given K500,000 by Anglimp-South Waghi MP Joe Koim, and the School of Nursing was given a 25-seater bus and another vehicle by AusAID.

The presentation, at the Mt Hagen Provincial Hospital, was witnessed by the chief executive of the Western Highlands provincial health authority Dr James Kintwa, Dr Micheal Dokup and staff of Mt Hagen and Kudjip hospitals.

Koim committed another K500,000 for a mobile clinic in the electorate.

He said health was one of his priorities and he wanted to become a partner with the health service providers in his electorate to provide quality services.

Koim said Kudjip was a big district hospital located in his electorate, serving people from Jiwaka and other Highlands provinces.

He said instead of building a new hospital, it was better to expand the existing hospital’s operation to provide quality services.

Koim said the mobile clinic would be used to serve people living in the rural areas connected by road.

AusAID representative Dr Geoff Clark, Health and HIV programme director, said he was happy to see a local MP giving health a priority.
