Hospital observes World Anaesthesia Day showcase work

THE Goroka General Hospital celebrated World Anaesthesia Day on Wednesday by performing work that doctors carry out in the operating theatre.
“We observe this day and celebrate with the anaesthesia body around the world and putting on and displaying the work that we do in handling anaesthetics and resuscitation of patients in the operating theatre,” specialist anaesthetist Dr Elizabeth Inaido said.
She said anaesthetists played a crucial role in all surgeries.
Goroka hospital was recently upgraded to level six and was declared the Highlands regional hospital.
It is capable of providing the best medical and clinical services including the anaesthetics and resuscitation services.
She said the hospital was recruiting qualified personnel, including those in anaesthetics, to deliver the services for the Highlands and the country.
