Hospital situation

Letters

Being discharged from Goroka General Hospital was like escaping from a dark tunnel.
I was admitted into hospital with a fresh wound but was treated almost 24 hours later.
I saw people not attended to as a result of shortage of nurses and doctors.
I saw fresh blood on the floor which needed to be cleaned instantly, but cleaned hours later.
I saw patients holding on to their glucose drips and sitting on the benches all day and night because of bed shortage.
Unbelievable.
What is this?
Is this really an urban hospital?
Does this hospital deserve to be called a ‘general hospital’?
I call upon the good Government of the day to seriously look into this matter.
It must act instantly by providing funding.
Most importantly, change the board of management, because all these hospital woes are a result of poor management.
