THE district hospital in Maprik will undergo a K80 million facelift to improve health services it provides.

Maprik MP John Simon said he was relying on the provincial government for “financial input”.

The project will be undertaken by Architect Alliance Contractor Ltd that will draw up a service plan, designs for the building construction and a project management plan.

The man behind the redevelopment project, Dr Stendard Hiasihiri, said it had taken almost eight years for the district and provincial government to secure funding for the project.

He thanked Simon for allocating K4m through the district services improvement programme to get the project underway.

Hiasihiri said Health Department had given K5m.

Hiasihiri said after the designing work, the contractor would submit the details to the project management team for approval.

He said the second phase of the project would be construction.

Simon said health service was a priority along with education and the economy.

“This redevelopment project of the hospital is one of the major impact projects under the district development plan,” he said.
