PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill is impressed with the  renovation and maintenance work at the Port Moresby General Hospital.

O’Neill  visited the  hospital on Sunday and commended the management and board for improving the look of the hospital after many years.

The government provided K50 million towards the work.

Each of the 12 wards will take up K1 million each to upgrade.

“Excellent, very good and impressive,” O’Neill said of the work done so far.

“I want to see this continue everywhere in  our hospitals. We don’t need to build new hospitals but improve on what we have.

“It has taken 40 years of neglect. It cannot take one year to fix all the problems and improve our health system but hopefully over the next five years we will give the best quality medical care to our people,” he said.

Many people who recently went to the hospital  said it was a relief to experience the new look and environment.

There was good word about the enquiry desk and refreshing air at the hospital.
